Summer Gazebo Concerts on the square in Medina

Our summer concerts may have to be cancelled due to weather. Please watch the website if the weather is looking iffy for any possible rain outs. Unfortunately there is not an alternative location or any time to make up the concerts on good weather days. Selections of music of concerts that have been rained out may appear in the upcoming concerts.

Influenza (4-30-09)

The current H1N1 influenza situation has caused some concern from the public about the potential impact on community events. Here is a summary of current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control.

One of the most important steps people can take now is to familiarize themselves with the symptoms of H1N1 influenza. The most common symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, and headache. This is a virus that has not been in circulation before now, and there is no immunity to it yet (the seasonal flu vaccine does not give protection), so it is especially important for people to avoid contact with others at the first sign of illness- stay home from work, school, or band if you are ill!

Schools and community groups should prepare for the possibility of school closures or other directives restricting public events. The current
recommendation is for a school to be closed for at least 1 week if there is a confirmed case, and to reopen if no additional cases. In the case of a more widespread outbreak, local elected officials may make the decision to cancel public gatherings. Band concerts would fall into this category, and rehearsals would be affected by school closings. However, at this time, there are no recommendations to cancel public events. This may change as the situation unfolds, so watch for further updates. More information is available at www.cdc.gov, or 866-800-1404.
