Frank Cosenza received his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Akron. He is a veteran band director of 32 years and retired from the West Geauga Local Schools where he was a 4-time recipient of the Excellence in Education award. He was called from retirement to serve Kent State University as the Interim Director of Athletic Bands/Concert Band. During his time at Kent State, the Marching Golden Flashes traveled to the MAC championship and the GoDaddy.com Bowl. He is an elected member of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity and the American School Band Director’s Association His groups have performed at Severance Hall, the Ohio Music Education Association State Conference, and the American School Band Director’s Association State Conference and Lincoln Center in New York City. Mr. Cosenza has been active in OMEA and has held the following positions: State Treasurer/Trustee, District President, member of music selection committees All-State Co-coordinator, and current adjudicator for solo & ensemble and large group events. He performs regularly with the W. D. Packard Concert Band and Big Band Sound, and has also played with many artists including Frankie Avalon, The Manhattan Transfer, Wayne Newton, Johnny Mathis, Holiday on Ice and the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus. He is a Conn-Selmer endorsing artist and maintains a private brass studio.
