Narrator -
PhotobucketJan Snyder, Jan was a Baritone player with the Medina Community Band until her health began to deteriorate.  She then quit playing with the band and picked up as a narrator.  "I wanted to be part of the band and being a narrator was the perfect solution".  Then on February 2,2007, she received her miracle....a heart transplant!

Jan also played with the Patriots Band and sang with the Elyria Chapter of Harmony International (Sweet Adelines). While singing with the Sweet Adelines, she served as a Board Member and President.  The Sweet Adeline of the Year Award was given to her during her tenure as President.

Otherwise she is a Homemaker and wife to Tuba Player, Kyle.  Riding the Harley; walking the dog (Jessie); working out with Jazzercise; and reading, are just some of the things she does for fun.

Equipment Manager - Friday Evening Gazebo Manager

Chris Ruhrkraut  moved to Medina from Brunswick in the late 1980's.  In 1990 he and his neighbors came to some of the Medina Community Band concerts, in the Gazebo.  After his father died, his mother moved to Medina and almost every Friday from 1994 to 2003 they walked to the concerts to enjoy the sounds of the Medina Community Band.  Now that his sister is in the band, Chris even enjoys coming to rehearsals.

Chris is an employee of Windfall Industries affiliated with the Medina Co. Achievement Center.  He is involved in Special Olympics (see his trophies in the picture) and has been supported by the Medina Community Band.  He was thrilled when he was asked to be the Equipment Manager for the band.  It's his way of giving back and to be able to listen and learn.
